Copyright and image takedown

If something on HallMatch is yours and you don't want it here, email [email protected] and we will take it down. We aim to do it within two working days, usually the same day.

We will not ask you to prove ownership before removing it, and we will not ask you to withdraw a complaint. If you tell us an image is yours, that is enough for us to take it off the site.

What to send

Whatever you have. The two things that help most are:

• the address of the page it appears on, or the address of the image itself
• a line saying which part of it is yours

A reference number, a licence, or a screenshot is useful if you have one, but nothing is required. We would rather remove something on a thin complaint than leave it up while we correspond.

Where our images come from

Photographs on HallMatch come from three places: venue managers who upload their own, Google Maps, and—historically—an automated image search run against each hall's name and postcode.

That last source was a mistake. It collected pictures whose owners we could not identify, and some of them belonged to photographers and picture agencies who had never licensed them to us. In September 2026 we stopped publishing anything from it and removed the images it had collected from the site. We no longer publish any photograph unless a venue gave it to us or we can name the licence that permits it.

We kept the records of where each image came from. If you write to us about one, we can tell you what we held, where we got it, and when it came down.

Listing text and venue details

Listings for unclaimed venues are compiled from public sources. If a description or other text on a listing was copied from your website and you would rather it weren't, tell us and we will remove or rewrite it on the same terms.

If you run the venue and want the whole listing gone rather than one part of it, use the contact page — we remove listings on request, and a hall that opts out stays out.

Phone numbers and email addresses

If a contact detail on a listing is yours and shouldn't be there — a personal number published as a hall's booking line, say — there is a link beside every contact on a venue page that removes it straight away, without needing to email anybody. You can also write to us at the address above, or read our privacy policy for your rights over the information we hold.

After removal

Removing an image takes it off our pages immediately and deletes it from our storage. Copies may survive briefly in our content delivery network's cache, and for longer in search engine caches and web archives that we do not control. Tell us if you see one and we will clear what we can and ask the operator to clear the rest.
