Enquiries & replies

Is an enquiry a confirmed booking?

Understand the difference between asking about a hall, a temporary hold and a confirmed booking.

An enquiry starts a conversation

Sending an enquiry asks the hall about your event. It does not confirm that the hall is available or that the booking has been accepted. Wait for the hall’s reply and agree the details directly.

A hold is temporary

Some slot requests or replies can place a temporary hold in the hall’s diary. Where a hold applies, follow the status and any expiry shown in the request or confirmation. A hold is not the same as a confirmed booking.

Do not assume every enquiry reserves a room. General enquiries may have no diary hold at all.

Confirm the booking with the hall

Managers confirm a slot request with Accept in Enquiries, confirm a manual hold with Confirm booking, or record an independently agreed hire with Book in the diary. A reply saying Yes, it’s free, an edited hold or Mark paid is not the same action.

Hirers should agree the room, date, times, price, access and conditions with the hall, and check that the booking has been accepted. HallMatch does not currently collect booking payments; arrange any deposit or payment directly with the hall.
